X-Men: Days of Future Past: First Trailer

Releasing of the first X-Men: Days of Future Past trailer has caused quite a flurry of excitement and has thrown me into geek costume frenzy. Taking place in two time periods, the viewer will no doubt get a lesson in fashion history and dystopian hero costumes. With a somber tone and the voice of Charles Xavier, absolutely trilling, last seen years ago we clip to Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, and Shadowcat and Iceman. Today they are dystopian hero chic, covered in black armor and leather. Designed by Louise Mingenbach, who also designed X-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Last Stand, Mingenbach brings a new look to the crew, more armored with less X motifs, almost pulling from a robotic inspiration. We all know the Sentinels are a great inspiration source.

Transition to 1973, a younger and ragged Charles Xaviar, flanked by Logan and Hank McCoy, wearing brown leather and patterned shirts. Clip to a Younger Magneto, rightly designed in a fashionable coat, a richly textured blazer with a touch of color, and a patterned ascot. The Nixon era costumes look exciting, the colors and patterns just light up the screen. We also get a first look at Bishop, a fan favorite and I’m excited to see more of Rogue’s costume, we only get a glimpse but she is looking quite fashionably heroic in a lighter color.
